GIVE NEW VISION

At Nasims Global Rahma Initiative - NASRAH, we work to give people in vulnerable areas the opportunity for better vision and thereby a better life. Many people in developing countries have never had their eyesight examined and must live with impaired vision that affects their schooling, work and quality of life.

As part of our glasses project, we collect used glasses in Denmark, clean and sort them, and distribute them in countries where the need is greatest. Our goal is to create sustainable and local solutions, where we work together with local partners to offer free eye tests and distribute glasses to people who would otherwise have no access to them.

There has for many years been a tradition of collecting used glasses in Denmark. These projects have primarily been driven by volunteer opticians, who over the years have ensured that the glasses reached populations in developing countries.

At Nasrah, we build on this tradition, and we are proud to have a close collaboration with Syn for Sagen, who since 2012 have measured and distributed more than 30,000 glasses in many different countries. Syn for Sagen has extensive experience in how to organise both in Denmark and in the field, and they have built up a comprehensive stock of cleaned and adjusted glasses as well as expertise in equipment and methods for local eye examinations.

Together we are planning a pilot project in 2026, where three Danish optometrists will travel with Nadeem Irani to northern Pakistan to measure and distribute glasses. Optometrists Ane Iversen, chairwoman of Syn for Sagen, Susanne Yde and Vibeke Spange will, in collaboration with local authorities, establish a mobile eye clinic from which vision assessments will be carried out and appropriate glasses distributed free of charge to local residents.

GIFT CLEAN WATER

Providing access to clean and safe water is one of the most life-changing forms of aid one can offer. Together with our local partners, Nasrah has already helped build wells in both Togo and Pakistan. We currently facilitate most projects in close collaboration with Danish Muslim Aid, who have many years of experience and a strong local network across several countries. Contact us if you wish to build a well as sadaqah jariyah.

OTHER INITIATIVES

CLOTHING DONATIONS FOR PSYKIATRISK CENTER GLOSTRUP

Psykiatrisk Center Glostrup is one of Denmark's largest psychiatric centres, with 13 inpatient wards and 170 beds — including several closed units for long-term and severely ill patients. Many patients arrive with very few personal belongings and have limited opportunities to access additional clothing during their stay. This is why donations make such a significant difference. The ability to wear everyday clothing rather than hospital attire can create a sense of normality, dignity and security during a difficult period of life. We are deeply grateful for the local support from Tøjeksperten Nørrebro and Butik Roza, who have contributed new clothing for this important cause.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION FOR THE HOMELESS

At Nasrah.org, we continuously work to support people experiencing homelessness through the distribution of food, drinks and sanitary supplies in Copenhagen.

According to VIVE — the National Centre for Social Research, almost 6,000 people are living in homelessness in Denmark, and nearly half are based in the greater Copenhagen area. Many are simultaneously struggling with mental illness, addiction, loneliness and financial hardship.

Homelessness is not only about the lack of a home, but also about the lack of security, stability and social support. That is why we do not only wish to contribute with practical assistance, but also with care, respect and humanity.

A warm meal, hygiene products or a friendly conversation can make a real difference for people in a vulnerable situation.

We thank all volunteers and supporters who make this work possible. Together we can create more hope, dignity and support for people experiencing homelessness. A special thank you goes to Føtex Nørrebro, who have generously donated water, toothbrushes and toothpaste for those in need.

DUVETS AND SANITARY PRODUCTS FOR GRACEKBH SHELTER

GraceKbh in Nørrebro is a day centre for homeless and socially vulnerable citizens, where they can get a meal and a conversation. Due to a cold and prolonged winter, GraceKbh has offered overnight accommodation in the centre's premises to homeless people, which has meant that they have had an urgent need for duvets and sleeping bags, aswell as sanitary products. Nasrah has therefore collected these and donated them to GraceKbh, so that more people can have a warm and dignified night's sleep. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed and helped make a difference.
